Christine DiBlasio received her Doctorate in Psychology in May of 1989 from the University of Vermont. She completed a two year Post Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Vermont as well. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, an affiliate staff member of the UVM Medical Center, and is a former clinical adjunct professor at the University of Vermont.
Dr. DiBlasio provides assessment and psychotherapy services for adults of all ages. Her style is warm, collaborative, compassionate, and engaging. Her approach blends a variety of techniques including cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness and EMDR, and is individually tailored to the needs of each client. Dr. DiBlasio has worked with a wide range of clinical issues across the lifespan, with areas of special interest and expertise including anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, grief and loss, parenting concerns, life changes related to medical conditions, relationship issues, stress management, and women’s issues.
Dr. DiBlasio frequently provides consultation to other providers, schools, and agencies, and has been an invited speaker for a variety of workshops and trainings for professionals. She also has over 20 years experience conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations within various Vermont school districts, and has served as a psychological consultant and prevention specialist.
In July of 2014, Dr. DiBlasio earned the rank of 4th degree Black Belt (Sensei) in Kempo-Jujitsu Karate. For over eighteen years, she has offered workshops on empowerment self-defense (ESD), violence prevention and trauma recovery at colleges, middle and high schools, and at both community and corporate settings. These ESD trainings combine her background in psychology and martial arts with advancements from the latest research on the neuroscience of trauma and trauma recovery. In each of these ESD trainings, women find their voice, learn practical skills, reclaim a sense of power and control, develop resilience, and as a result, reduce their risk of assault.
Dr. DiBlasio is a strong believer in empowering individuals through knowledge and skills. As such, together with a seven member team of women with diverse professional backgrounds, Dr. DiBlasio founded a non-profit organization (The Safety Team, Inc.) which is dedicated to preventing violence, healing trauma, fostering resilience and building safe communities.
