Why the Stone House name?
Stone House Counseling was formed in 1995 in the historic Old Stone House in Winooski, Vermont. After 10 great years of providing professional mental health care services to all of our clients and building a reputation of excellence with all of our referral sources, a group of us moved into larger, more modern offices in South Burlington, VT.
From November 1, 2005 through April 30th, 2016, our psychotherapy practice was located in the Dorset St. Professional Center in South Burlington, VT. The practice was renamed Stone House Associates at this time. We spent eleven wonderful years in this location, serving the local community and expanding our group from four seasoned and highly qualified mental health practitioners to eleven. Our team included licensed psychologists, a psychiatrist, licensed mental health counselors, licensed social workers and a licensed drug and alcohol counselor.
In 2015, the opportunity to build a permanent home for our practice arose. This move allowed us to remain part of the South Burlington community, while also offering us the ability to expand our team even further. On May 1, 2016, we moved into our beautiful, brand new stand-alone building just off of Hinesburg Road (27 Rye Circle). Our new building features 14 spacious and bright offices, is completely handicapped accessible, was architecturally and carefully designed to meet the needs of our clients and staff, and is conveniently located near other health care professionals. This new building has allowed us to add an additional drug and alcohol counselor, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, as well as three licensed mental health counselors to our group (bringing us to a total of 14 mental health practitioners) so that we can more fully serve the local community.
We are proud to have an outstanding team of mental health professions whose combined experience totals well over 175 years. In our new location, we continue our longstanding tradition of offering a safe and trusted source for excellence in mental health care in Vermont.
